Bronx, New York- John Doyle, Democratic candidate for New York City Council in the 13th District, announced today his endorsement by the Empire State Humane Voters (ESHV). The endorsement was announced as part of a series of endorsements on the part of ESHV in races within the city this year.
“John Doyle has been a longtime supporter of animal rights, and we are proud to endorse him for City Council.“ said Allie Taylor, Founder and Executive Director of ESHV. “As City Council Member, John will work to pass legislation protecting the rights of tenants with pets, prevent companion animals from being left outside during inclement weather, and protect our city’s homeless animals by fully funding our city’s animal shelters.”
“As somebody who considers animals members of my family, I consider this endorsement very meaningful,” said John Doyle in regards to the endorsement. “People who mistreat animals also tend to have a number of issues with other criminal behaviors, and cracking down on these crimes may alleviate future offenses down the road. We need to do more to make sure that all living creatures are treated with respect. I am proud to have the endorsement of the Empire State Humane Voters, and look forward to working with them in the future.“
ESHV is a grassroots advocacy organization that is building political power for animals in New York State, and chose to endorse John based on his record for improving the welfare of animals as well as pet owners within the city. The announcement of this endorsement is also coupled with the addition of a Animal Welfare section on John’s website.
